OR Architecture is a Melbourne-based architecture and interior design practice working across private residences, renovations and boutique residential development.

We approach each project as an individual response to its site, context and brief rather than applying a predetermined architectural language.

The result is architecture that feels composed rather than imposed — spaces with clarity, warmth and a sense of permanence.

One design language, inside and out.

Architecture and interiors are developed together within the studio.

From the earliest planning decisions through to joinery, stone, lighting and fittings, each element is considered in relation to the whole.

This continuity allows the architectural idea to remain clear as the project moves from concept into detail and construction.

We intentionally maintain a focused portfolio of projects.

This allows us to work closely with our clients, understand the subtleties of each brief and remain actively involved as the architecture develops.

Rather than separating design into isolated disciplines or stages, we seek continuity — between architecture and interiors, concept and detail, drawing and construction.

Our approach

Context

Every project begins with an understanding of place — orientation, landscape, neighbouring conditions, existing architecture and the broader character of its setting.

Proportion

Good spaces rely on more than size. We carefully consider volume, scale, movement, light and the relationship between rooms.

Material

Materials are selected for their character, longevity and contribution to the architectural idea rather than as decoration applied afterwards.

Detail

The success of a project often lies in its smallest junctions. Joinery, thresholds, edges, lighting and material transitions are resolved with the same attention as the overall form.

No two sites or clients are the same. Our role is to uncover the opportunities within each project and develop an architectural response particular to them.
